Originally from Chicago, I am a California criminal defense attorney focused on post-conviction advocacy in state and federal courts. My practice includes criminal appeals, resentencing petitions, writs of habeas corpus, Racial Justice Act motions, and expungements and record clearances.
I bring nearly a decade of criminal defense experience to my law practice. Before becoming an attorney, I worked extensively as a criminal defense assistant and paralegal, providing litigation support in hundreds of felony, misdemeanor, and post-conviction cases in both public and private practice. I earned my legal education through California’s Law Office Study Program, a four-year legal apprenticeship, and passed the California Bar Exam on my first attempt in February 2023.
Outside of my legal practice, I have been involved with reentry and rehabilitative programming at San Quentin State Prison since 2015. I began as a Reentry Advisor with the California Reentry Program, helping participants prepare for parole board hearings and release from prison. Since 2017, I have co-facilitated Prison to Employment Connection, a prison-based job readiness program. In 2023, I was appointed Program Director of P2EC, where I continue to support reentry, prison reform, and program development efforts.
My work at San Quentin helped shape my decision to focus on post-conviction advocacy. I have seen firsthand that the legal process does not end at conviction. These cases are serious, high-stakes, and often complex, and I do not take that responsibility lightly. I take the time to review the full record, analyze the procedural and legal history, identify viable issues, and communicate honestly about the strengths and limits of each case. I am deeply committed to pursuing meaningful avenues of relief on behalf of my clients.
